Minneapolis Indie Xpo at the Soap Factory

Nothing worse than a sweaty runner attending a comic book expo, but there I was at the Soap Factory at the Minneapolis Indie Expo, half-way through my run, trying not to drip on the artwork. And of course I had no pockets to gather cards and samples, let alone buy anything.

Spoke briefly with my friends Zak Sally and Tyler Page, great work.

Ran into designer/illustrator Sam Anderson again, keep bumping into that guy.

Saw a few former students: Evan Palmer, Will Dinski, Eric Schultz, among  others (missed Ed Moorman and Brent Schoonover somehow, as well as fellow instructor Tom Kaczynski).

A couple of new favorites are Sam Hiti and his apprentice JP Beaty. Sam's work has that Alex Toth element I love so much, big chunky blacks, and JP's work exhibits a unique interpretation of naive/raw art, really smart for such a young artist.
