Early in my grad school work, I was struggling with my move from digital back to traditional media. Not that I had any plans to abandon Photoshop of course, I just hoped to reacquaint myself with tangible image making: drawing, painting, printmaking... For one of my projects, I painted a series of boxer images, this one (bottom image) based on Rocky Marciano. I used watercolor and color pencil in a bit of a tentative manner, still turned out a bit better than this scan suggests. Then last month, I decided to redo the image digitally (top image). This digital version was created as a part of my Veer collection.
